Chris Cochrane is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and the Chair of Political Science at the University of Toronto Scarborough. His research applies computational tools to study language, ideology, and political representation in Canada. He leads the Linked Parliamentary Data (LiPaD) Project and works with partners at the Investigative Journalism Foundation (IJF) to improve the quality and accessibility of civic data about Canadian politics. He is writing about systemic distortions of Canadian political institutions and interconnections between ideology and language in parliamentary debates.
