Western's History department will be welcoming their own Professor Mike Fulton to speak about the castle of Karak, located in modern Jordan, and which is the largest and best-preserved castles built in the Levant during the Middle Islamic (later medieval) period.
New investigations are now challenging certain existing assumptions and revealing a more complex architectural evolution.
The lecture will probe the meaning and uses of certain spaces with recent survey work and new insights, leading to many new questions.
