Special Event: Northern Tornadoes Project Music at Ivey

Join us for an evening of music inspired by the Northern Tornadoes Project! This special event in the BMO Auditorium of the Richard Ivey Building showcases collaborations among internationally-celebrated guest musicians, the Northern Tornadoes Project, the Ivey Business School, and faculty and students from the Don Wright Faculty of Music.

A 6:30pm reception in the Rosen Lounge precedes the 7pm concert in BMO Auditorium. 

Planned program includes New Orford String Quartet (Andrew Wan, violin; Jonathan Crow, violin; Sharon Wei, viola; Brian Manker, cello) premiering three new works inspired by the Northern Tornadoes Project and popular excerpts from Beethoven's op. 131 and Schubert's Death and the Maiden. The evening also features a viola quartet by Master's student and JUNO-nominated composer Emily Hiemstra, joined by Western Music student violists Cian Diamond, Tasman Tantasawat and alum Katie McBean.

Planned speakers include Greg Kopp, Lead engineer of Northern Tornadoes Project and Oana Branzei, Professor of Strategy and Sustainability, Ivey Business School.

Funding and in-kind support for this event has been generously provided by Ivey Business School, the Northern Tornadoes Project, and Western Academy for Advanced Research.
