National Day of Action: MMIWG2S
Wampum Learning Lodge
The staff of the Indigenous Student Centre at Western and our community partners are pleased to welcome all to the new Wampum Learning Lodge for the MMIWG2S National Day of Action on February 13, 2023.
This is a day of conversation, story telling, action and healing. The day will consist of activities such as Sacred Fire lighting and tobacco offering, opening remarks, jingle dress healing dance demonstration, community booths, and short films. Feel free to attend all or part of the day.

8:30 am Sacred Fire lighting and tobacco offering
9:00 am Opening remarks with Elder Gloria Thomson, Reta VanEvery (My Sister’s Place) and Sierra Jamieson (Jingle Dress Healing Dancer) with a jingle dress dance demonstration.
9:45 am Hot Breakfast in the dome and the introduction of the red dress activity, wampum belt beading and community booths.
10:30 am Short Film Screenings in the classroom
11:45 am Lunch
