FIMS is pleased to invite you to the Clissold Lecture featuring guest speaker Nahlah Ayed, host of CBC's IDEAS.

As long-standing models of journalism become outdated and discarded, the foreign correspondent has become an easy target. Nahlah Ayed speaks in defence of a reinvented version and the enduring necessity of international coverage in the post-truth age.

This event is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.

Biography
Nahlah Ayed is an award-winning veteran of foreign reporting: first, in the Middle East where she spent nearly a decade covering the region's many conflicts. And later, while based in London, she covered many of the major stories of our time: Russia's annexation of Crimea, Europe's refugee crisis, the Brexit vote and its fallout.

About the Clissold Lecture
The Clissold Lecture commemorates the life and work of Edward Clissold (1833-1915), one of London's most important early editors and journalists. Edward retired as editor of the London (Ontario) Advertiser after 33 years on staff. A bequest in 1984 from the estate of Clissold's grandson Robert Blount and his wife, Rose, enabled the Graduate School of Journalism to found this annual lecture series to commemorate Clissold's legacy.
