Hassan Ghedi Santur

Hassan Ghedi Santur emigrated to Canada from Somalia when he was thirteen. Journalist, editor, and novelist, he earned a BA in English Literature and an MFA from York University, and an MA from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. He has been a Grantee of the Pulitzer Centre which supports quality journalism on underreported global issues; his journalism has appeared on CBC radio and in The Walrus, Yahoo News, The New York Times, and The New Humanitarian, among other locations. His first novel Something Remains (Dundurn 2010) was followed by a nonfiction study Maps of Exile (Warscapes Magazine, 2017) on recent African migrations to Europe. The Youth of God (Mawenzie Press) was a finalist for the Pius Adesanmi Memorial Award for Excellence in African Writing, 2019 and nominated for Canada Reads, 2020.
