Western University's Anti-Racism Webinar Series and the Western Equity Census Working Group are very pleased to present Dr. Opiyo Oloya, Western's inaugural Associate Vice-President of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
Your Voice Counts: An Afternoon with Dr. Opiyo Oloya
6 October 2021, 2PM
As part of our commitment to advance the conversation on promising practices of equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization (EDID), Western’s Anti-Racism Webinar Series will welcome renowned social justice and human rights advocate Dr. Opiyo Oloya to talk about his vision for leading change at Western University and in the Canadian post-secondary education system. Drawing upon his own lived experience and knowledge as an award-winning school board administrator, Dr. Oloya will address the importance of listening to voices and stories in our communities to pursue the common goal of EDI.
Dr. Oloya’s talk will coincide with the launch of the Western Equity Census, a comprehensive campus-wide survey that aims to collect data that can be used to help understand the demographics of the university and to enhance the diversity and equity of our community. Dr. Oloya will also address how the Census provides the university with a means to measure the effectiveness of EDI strategies and to close the gap between policies and practice.
